Takafumi Anegawa

Takafumi ANEGAWA is a fellow of Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings, Inc. (TEPCO) . Until March 2021, he was the President of Research Institute of and leads all of its R&D, including Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) as well as a variety of EV-related business innovations. The TEPCO group serves electricity in the greater Tokyo metropolitan area and its electricity sales account for about 30% of that of Japan, or the 8th largest amongst the global top utilities.
Mr. ANEGAWA joined TEPCO in 1983 and was involved in nuclear power plant engineering and management until 2002, when he initiated and led the E-Mobility business team at TEPCO. During that time, Mr. ANEGAWA and his team were the driving force for the creation of the world’s first DC rapid charging technology, CHAdeMO, for the new wave of electric vehicles.
After TEPCO’s Fukushima accident in 2011, Mr. Anegawa concentrated in the recovery efforts for 7 years as the Chief Nuclear Officer / Managing Executive Officer of TEPCO. Mr. ANEGAWA holds a Master of Engineering from the University of Tokyo.
